This will probably not sit well with some people, and is slightly (but only slightly, for where there is a will, there is a way and so on) impractical to implement, but hey, at least I had an idea! What have you done, eh? So read on.
The deal with AIDS is that we don't have a cure for it, and there is no real cure in sight as yet either. The epidemic, of course, is growing every year despite all the governments of the world supposedly warning their citizens to take precautions etc. It is my belief that it is not a part of fundamental human nature to only have one sexual partner in a lifetime, and we all know that "unsafe" sex with multiple partners is a potential way for HIV to enter the system. As for safe sex, personally, I hate, HATE condoms. They are such a fucking kill-joy (quite literally). Furthermore, even as the quality of condoms has improved over the decades, instances of them rupturing during the act are still not uncommon. And please, anyone who is going to suggest wearing two condoms or something equally stupid, shut up and shove it. Anyway, the virus also spreads through other human pleasures such as injection of drugs, and there is no point telling the junkies to sterilise their needles.
Too much digression. What I am suggesting is, everyone on the planet, every last one, should be tested for the virus. And all those who are infected should be quarantined. Build communes, nice big, modern self-contained ones. And send them there. They will keep their occupations, albeit in a new locale. They will even keep their families, if their families wish to go with them. Make it as "democratic" as possible, and as humane. Think of the greatest good for the greatest numbers. After all, why should the rest of us be forced to keep the libido in check, under the HIV-laced sword of Damocles? I am sure all the fucking Catholic puritans (they are just an easy target, the same holds true for many other religious zealots) probably think of this as a punishment dealt by the ever-generous and merciful god to the human race for its non-monogamous ways.
Again digression. If we manage to carry out this quarantine effectively, we would have isolated all the carriers and hence also eliminated the chance of the virus spreading. We will have to then wait for the next time a man fucks an infected monkey (the stupid theory about the origin of the disease) for the virus to run rampant again. I must stress that the communes built for this purpose will be like any other place. Completely normal in every which way, since people who are HIV+ are also normal in every which way except having a useless immune system.
How many of you think it could work? For those of you who are going to lash out, please frame a proper cohesive response.

Just a question...will the quaratined people be allowed to reproduce? i mean if they are then what we are looking at is two earths in one eh?so are we to look forward to (according to your "final solution") two australias for example? and what part of the land are we giving the infected bugger? i hope not the fertile bits!!! we dont want AIDS okra!!!!!! will they be allowed to trade with the un-infected earth??? will they be passing on filthy currency notes from their side of the fence in exchange for cigarettes?????

anon #1, the quarantined shall not be allowed to reproduce since it is highly unethical (even from my limited stock of ethics) to knowingly bring incurably ill children into the world. and i am not suggesting the infected be put on an island or some such, merely in communes that will have flourishing economies, of course without any restrictions on trade (except for that of blood and sperm).
anon #2, same canNOT be said of ALL undesirables. you are making it too subjective, since desire itself is subjective, and you even mention a political example.

Dude, weak! I have known you to say crazy stuff but this one takes the cake and all other dishes (or trophies) there might be up for grabs. This one is remarkably shocking.
First of all and most importantly I suppose, your idea stinks of blatant discrimination.
Lets name it 'Endlösung der HIV/AIDSfrage' (or the Final Solution to the HIV/AIDS question). How brilliantly, and with an incredible masterstroke, you have found a way of tackling this great 'problem'. Your idea is perhaps one of the most shocking examples of a deus ex machina that finds a way out of a "hopeless" situation. Much like the colonisation spree, the Armenian and Jewish holocaust and the Palestinian problem your idea is obviously positioning itself as a solution that is in the best interest of everyone.
But just because you or others cannot keep their libido in check or cannot be bothered to employ precautions, you want people infected with HIV/AIDS to be secluded and denied their basic right of liberty and freedom of movement. And please do not throw that beautiful commune bit again. Nothing beautiful in knowing that you are restricted from venturing outside your 'commune'.
What about those children or people who contracted the virus due to no fault of theirs? What are they being punished for - pechle janmo ke karm??
And tell me pray, are you planning to totally cut off their contacts with the "normal world"? Or do they have to wear prominent identifications (like the infamous yellow star of david) when they come to parties, bars, clubs, tourist sites so that the "normal people" do not accidently (or in the event of being completed smashed) hook up with them?
Tell me, do you or do you not believe in being humane? Even your often expressed contempt for ethics or human life does not give you the right play god to these people. This ghastly discriminatory idea is akin to the worst forms of racism and xenophobia. And you have the cheek to call it a novel idea!!
Whose next... chronically poor people who do not contribute to our consumerist society and dirty our streets?

raghu, its not just unwise but even stupid to jump on idea without understanding it. i said nothing about denial of basic rights. A quarantine has been, in the absence of a cure, an age-old method of dealing with a disease, and perhaps with good reasons. it is only in the "modern" construct of humane that it is frowned upon in the way you are doing it, or perhaps you are scoffing at the scale i am suggesting. when i said the communes will be like normal places, what the hell do you think that means? if you read my reply to comment by anon #1, i say quite specifically that all sorts of exchange except that of bodily fluids like blood and sperm are kosher.
people who contract HIV without any fault of their own, it is precisely to prevent any more such cases happening that i have suggested what i have, but you, like many others of our species, tend to get caught in short-term view of things that is laced with being humane and goody-two-shoes. i ain't playing god or any such, though i wish i could. its a pity i ain't the dictator of the world yet.
i believe in being human, not humane. and this kind of "final solution" cannot be stretched to anything else which is merely undesirable, poverty or whatever else.
